RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT FOR BORDER WATCH Binoculars, most spotting maybe done at night. Recommend having a good set of night vision optics. Bring lots of water. Cell phone, (remember chargers.) 2-way radios, (GMRS/FRS). You can get theses at Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy etc. Recommend some with strength of at least 12 or 14 mile range. Remember to bring chargers. If you are Hams qualified and are licensed please let us know. Small note book to log observations Bring first aid kit, with snake bite kit. A good spot light (million candle power or more.) Dress for the weather, Rain gear, a good pair of high top boots (broken in), good hat, the days maybe hot and the nights are cold. Good part of spotting will be at night, you could be spending a good part of the night on watch. Sunglasses Bring any medication that you may need. Bug repellant Bring marine air horn to signal in the event you get lost. Having a GPS unit, maybe a good thing to have. Bring what ever you might think you may need, you maybe roughing it, but remember you may have to carry it. The North Carolina Minutemen, does not have any equipment. All volunteers are expected to furnish there own equipment, transportation, food and lodging etc.
